Cajun Music

Cajun Music

Cajun music is rooted in the ballads of the Acadians who made their way from Nova Scotia to Louisiana's Cajun Bayou, Lafourche Parish in the late 1700s. But it wasn't until the early 1900s when Jolie Blonde was recorded that the music was shared outside of Louisiana.

Today there are many differing styles of "Cajun," from ballads to Zydeco to what's known as "chank-a-chank" to "Swamp Pop" popular in Louisiana's Cajun Bayou.
