What is the closest airport to the Bayou Lafourche area?
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is less than an hour from the Bayou Lafourche area. When exiting the airport, take US Highway 61 North to Interstate 310. Take Interstate 310 which will turn into US Highway 90. Go west on US Highway 90 to the Bayou Lafourche area. I'm planning a trip to New Orleans. If I also want to visit the Bayou Lafourche area, should I overnight in New Orleans each night?
Not at all. The Bayou Lafourche area has a host of hotels, motels and bed & breakfasts where you can stay and enjoy the Cajun culture.

Are there shuttles to the Bayou Lafourche area from New Orleans?

Are there any plantation homes in the Bayou Lafourche area?
While there are many private plantation homes in the Bayou Lafourche area, unfortunately, none of them are open to the public. However, there are four (Madewood Plantation, Laura: A Creole Plantation, Oak Alley Plantation and St. Joseph Plantation) less than 20 minutes away.

Is Cajun food spicy?
In some areas of Louisiana, the answer would be, “yes,” but in the Bayou Lafourche area, we typically season more with vegetables (the “Trinity” of onions, bell peppers, and celery) than with pepper. This makes our food more flavorful and tasty.

Do I need a license to fish in the Bayou Lafourche area?
