March Into the Season with Parades
St. Patrick’s Day on the Bayou
March 14, Thibodaux
We put a Cajun twist on St. Patrick’s Day with live music, tasty food, family fun and our beloved cardboard boat races on the bayou. Admission is free, so come ready to see which boats sink and which ones float!
Krewe Des Lutins Irish-Italian Parade
March 21, Golden Meadow
This is the parade that proves St. Patrick’s fun doesn’t stop just because March 17 passes on the calendar. Join Krewe Des Lutins as they roll through Golden Meadow celebrating Irish and Italian heritage with festive throws … which include plenty of vegetables. You might just walk away with enough produce to make a hearty stew for dinner.

Bayou Blue Firemen’s Fair
April 10–12, Bayou Blue
Carnival rides, games and classic Cajun food make this community event a spring favorite. Hosted by the Bayou Blue Volunteer Fire Department, it’s three days of family-friendly fun with a strong dose of hometown spirit.
La Fête Du Monde
April 17–19, Raceland
Get ready to dance to the sounds of Louisiana at this swamp pop extravaganza. This three-day event at the Lafourche Pavilion features live music, dancing, Cajun food, games and rides. Bring your friends, grab some festival eats and enjoy the bayou’s biggest party of the season.
Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP) Bayou Cleanup Day
April 18, throughout Lafourche Parish
This day is all about giving back to the bayou we love. Volunteers across Lafourche Parish roll up their sleeves to help clean waterways and roadways, proving that a little teamwork goes a long way. For a list of cleanup locations, click HERE.
Annual Blessing of the Fleet
April 19, Golden Meadow
Decorated shrimp boats gather along the bayou for one of the area’s oldest and most meaningful traditions. This event honors the fishermen and shrimpers who work these waters, with prayers for safe journeys and a successful season ahead. Make sure to stick around for the boiled shrimp lunch!
Thibodaux Firemen’s Fair
April 30 – May 3, Thibodaux
The annual Firemen’s Fair is a true hometown tradition powered by the volunteers at the Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department. Enjoy pay-one-price carnival rides, delicious Cajun eats, a lively auction, a 5K run, raffle prizes and more.
